Pinterest image sizes
These are the six sizes the resizer produces. If you are not sure which to pick, use the standard pin: Pinterest recommends a 2:3 ratio for image pins.
| Preset | Pixels | Ratio | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Pin | 1000 x 1500 | 2:3 | Most pins. This is the ratio Pinterest recommends |
| Square Pin | 1000 x 1000 | 1:1 | Product photos and images made for other networks |
| Tall Pin | 1000 x 2100 | 1:2.1 | Long infographics and step lists. Pinterest says pins taller than 2:3 may be cut off in feeds, so use this only when the length is the point |
| Full-screen Pin | 1080 x 1920 | 9:16 | Pinterest's recommended size for full-screen video, and covers to match |
| Profile Cover | 800 x 450 | 16:9 | The landscape banner at the top of your profile |
| Profile Picture | 165 x 165 | 1:1 | Your profile photo. Pinterest publishes no size for it and shows it in a circle, so any square image works |

Frequently asked questions
What size should a Pinterest pin be?
A standard Pinterest pin should be 1000 x 1500 pixels, which is a 2:3 aspect ratio. Pinterest recommends 2:3 for image pins and warns that taller pins may be cut off in the feed. Square pins at 1000 x 1000 pixels also display well.
Which Pinterest sizes does the resizer support?
The resizer has six presets: Standard Pin at 1000 x 1500 (2:3), Square Pin at 1000 x 1000 (1:1), Tall Pin at 1000 x 2100 (1:2.1), Full-screen Pin at 1080 x 1920 (9:16), Profile Cover at 800 x 450 (16:9) and Profile Picture at 165 x 165. Pinterest recommends 2:3 for pins, so use Standard unless you have a reason not to.
How many images can I resize per day?
You can resize 2 images every 24 hours, and no account is needed. The tool processes one image at a time, and a resize only counts toward the limit when it succeeds.
What image formats can I upload?
You can upload JPG, PNG and WebP files up to 10 MB. The resized image is always saved as a JPG, so a transparent PNG background will not stay transparent after resizing.
Will resizing reduce my image quality?
Shrinking a large image keeps it sharp. Enlarging a small image cannot add detail, so it will look soft. For a 1000 x 1500 pin, start from a photo at least 1000 pixels wide. The result screen shows the original and resized file sizes so you can compare.
What is the difference between crop, padding and fit?
Crop to Fit fills the exact dimensions and trims what does not fit, and you choose from nine focus points which area to keep. Fit with Padding keeps the whole image and adds white bars to reach the exact size. Fit Entire Image scales the image down without cropping, so the result may not match the exact dimensions.
Do you store my images?
The resized file is saved on our server so you can download it, and it is deleted automatically within 7 days. We do not publish it or use it for anything else. Only upload images you have the right to use.
