Why infographic pins get saved

1

People save what they’ll need again

A checklist, a how-to or a cheat sheet is something you come back to: while you cook, pack or shop. So people save it to a board instead of just scrolling past.

2

Every save spreads your pin

A saved pin lands on someone else’s board, where their followers can see it and save it too.

3

Saves tell Pinterest it’s useful

Pinterest pays attention to what people save, and tends to show useful pins to more people, for months rather than days.

Best topics: anything people do in steps or tick off. Routines, packing lists, recipes, care guides, swaps.

Before you start

  1. 1

Click New Pin, then “An idea or keyword”

Sign in to Made to Spark and click New Pin on the left (on a phone or tablet, tap the menu button at the top left first). At the top, click the An idea or keyword tab.

The tabs at the top of the New Pin page, with An idea or keyword selected ↓
  2. 2

Type your topic and, if you like, your own points

Type what the infographic is about, the way people search for it. Here we use “sunday meal prep checklist”.

    1. 1 Type your topic in the big box.
    2. 2 Optional: click Add your own points and type one point per line. Leave it empty and AI writes them for you.
    3. 3 Optional: paste the page the pin should link to, like your blog post, in Pins link to.

  3. 3

Pick a format, then click Make

Each format you tick makes one pin. Made to Spark ticks one for you: for our topic it ticked Numbered list. To switch, tap the ticked one to untick it, then tap the one you want. We wanted Checklist. Tick several for several pins (up to 5). The bar with the Make button shows what it costs. Then click Make 1 pin.

    1. 1 Checklist for routines, packing lists and to-dos.
    2. 2 Step by step for how-tos, recipes and DIY.
    3. 3 Numbered list for tips, facts and reasons.
    4. 4 Cheat sheet for swaps, conversions and pairings.
    5. 5 Illustrated grid or Photo grid for dishes, rooms, looks and places. More formats (comparison, stats, map, itinerary) are one click away.

Tip: Seeing AI pin layouts instead of these formats? A topic without a list word (like checklist, tips, steps or guide) or a number at the start gets an AI pin instead. Click Also show infographic formats below the layouts, untick the AI layout and tick a format. Or add a list word to your topic. Open Options above the Make button to choose the look (Clean & Modern, Soft & Warm, Retro Poster…), the language, and whether your logo goes in the corner.

Check every word on your infographic

You land on My Pins, where the Just made box at the top shows your infographic being drawn. After about a minute it’s ready. AI draws the words right into the picture. Made to Spark reads them back, and if one is missing or garbled it draws the pin once more by itself. Still, now and then a misspelled word or a few made-up letters slip through, so read every line before you send it to Pinterest. AI also shortens long points so they fit: ours became “Plan 5 dinners” and “Write grocery list”.

Tip: Found a wrong word? Click Edit under the pin and choose Edit with AI. Type the fix with the exact words in double quotes, for example: Change “Wash snak fruit” to “Wash snack fruit”. You get a corrected copy as a new pin. Or choose Same words, new look to have it drawn again, or Different layout to try another format with the same points. The menu shows what each one costs.

On the right of your pin:

    1. 1 Pick a board. Made to Spark picks the one that fits best and marks it (suggested). You can always choose another one.
    2. 2 Leave When on Spread out (recommended), or choose Pick dates myself.
    3. 3 Click Schedule it. You see when it goes out and on which board. Changed your mind? Click Undo.
The Send them to Pinterest box with Meal Prep Ideas suggested as the board 1 2 3
Scheduled: goes out tomorrow on the Meal Prep Ideas board, with an Undo link
Tip: No board picker? If you see Connect Pinterest, click it. You only do it once, and it brings you straight back to your pin. If you see See plans with the scheduler instead, scheduling isn’t in your account yet (it comes with every subscription plan): click Download it and upload the picture to Pinterest yourself.

Questions

How many credits does an infographic use?

Each format you tick makes one pin. The cost shows above the formats and in the bar with the Make button, before you click Make.

Can I write the points myself?

Yes. Click Add your own points and type one per line. AI keeps your ideas and may shorten them so they fit the design.

Why does my infographic have a misspelled or made-up word?

AI draws the text as part of the picture, and sometimes it slips. Made to Spark checks the words and redraws once by itself when something is wrong, but always read the pin before it goes out. Edit with AI fixes a word when you give the exact words in double quotes.

What if something goes wrong?

If a pin doesn’t work, the Just made box says so and nothing is charged for it. If you see Try again under it, click it to draw the pin once more. If you don’t have enough credits, the Make button is replaced by a button to get more. And if a word comes out wrong, use Edit with AI as shown in step 4.

Should the infographic link to my site?

If you have a page on the topic, yes: paste it in Pins link to, so people who want more click through to you.
