Pinterest Pin Data 2026: What 3,700 Top Pins Tell Us

Most Pinterest advice is repeated from other advice. This page is numbers. They come from about 3,700 top pins across 46 Pinterest accounts connected to Made to Spark, with their daily impressions, saves and outbound clicks from February 1 to October 22, 2026. Together those pins were shown 9.9 million times and clicked through 102,000 times, a click rate of 1.0%.
Two things to know before you use any of this. These are each account's top pins, so the sample favors winners. And a pattern is not a cause: popular posts get pinned more, so "more pins, more clicks" is partly the other way round. We say where that matters.
Last updated: October 22, 2026. We re-run these numbers every three months.
The findings in one place
- Posts with one top pin had a median of 0 outbound clicks. Two different pins: 4. Three: 7. Four: 10.5. Five or more: 16.5.
- Posts with two or more different pins were 27% of the posts and brought 74% of the clicks.
- Six in ten 2026 clicks came from pins first posted in 2025 or earlier.
- Pins with no title: median 46 views. Titles of 41 to 70 characters: median 120.
- Descriptions of 250 to 499 characters had the best click rate, 1.35%. Under 100 characters: 0.28%.
- Pins with ten or more hashtags: median 14 views and a 0.16% click rate. No hashtags: 154 views and 0.98%.
- The weekday a pin was posted made no real difference: median views between 75 and 111 for every day.
How many different pins a post has
We grouped the top pins by the page they link to and counted how many different pins each page had among the top pins.
| Different top pins for the post | Posts | Median outbound clicks per post |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1,380 | 0 |
| 2 | 256 | 4 |
| 3 | 117 | 7 |
| 4 | 56 | 10.5 |
| 5 or more | 94 | 16.5 |
Posts with two or more different pins were 523 of 1,903 posts (27%) and brought 74% of all outbound clicks. Part of this is cause and part is effect: a post that already does well gets pinned again. But a post with one pin has one chance in the feed, and the ladder is steep enough that making three to five different pins per post is the single cheapest thing on this page.
How old the pins that bring clicks are
| Year the pin was first posted | Pins | Share of 2026 impressions | Share of 2026 outbound clicks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 2,289 | 53.5% | 40.3% |
| 2025 | 791 | 28.8% | 38.1% |
| 2024 | 205 | 12.5% | 14.8% |
| 2023 or earlier | 435 | 4.8% | 6.7% |
Pins from earlier years are shown less than this year's pins but clicked more per view, because the ones still showing have proven themselves. The lesson is to keep old posts alive with fresh pins rather than only pinning what's new. How to pin your blog archive covers how.
Title length
| Title length | Pins | Median views | Click rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| No title | 262 | 46 | 0.49% |
| 1 to 20 characters | 77 | 18 | 0.16% |
| 21 to 40 | 459 | 65 | 1.25% |
| 41 to 70 | 1,965 | 120 | 1.15% |
| 71 to 100 | 919 | 128 | 0.75% |
| Over 100 | 43 | 18 | 0.12% |
A title of 41 to 70 characters is the sweet spot for being seen and clicked. Longer titles are seen about as much but clicked less, probably because Pinterest cuts them off in the feed.
Description length
| Description length | Pins | Median views | Click rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| No description | 140 | 140 | 0.25% |
| 1 to 99 characters | 362 | 45 | 0.28% |
| 100 to 249 | 774 | 235 | 1.00% |
| 250 to 499 | 1,899 | 90 | 1.35% |
| 500 or more | 550 | 73 | 1.40% |
Short descriptions are the clear loser. From 100 characters up the picture is mixed: medium descriptions are seen most, long ones are clicked at a slightly higher rate. Write 150 to 400 characters that say what the reader gets, and stop.
Hashtags
Pins first posted in 2024 or later only, since older pins were made under different Pinterest rules.
| Hashtags in the description | Pins | Median views | Click rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| None | 2,795 | 154 | 0.98% |
| 1 to 3 | 99 | 123 | 1.48% |
| 4 to 9 | 252 | 76 | 1.49% |
| 10 or more | 139 | 14 | 0.16% |
Ten or more hashtags go with a tenth of the views and a sixth of the click rate. One to three don't hurt. Only some of the 46 accounts use hashtags at all, so treat this as a pattern, not proof.
The day a pin is posted
| Weekday first posted | Pins | Median views | Share of clicks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 510 | 105 | 18.4% |
| Tuesday | 542 | 96 | 17.4% |
| Wednesday | 507 | 102 | 9.5% |
| Thursday | 535 | 75 | 13.9% |
| Friday | 578 | 90 | 12.2% |
| Saturday | 531 | 92 | 17.5% |
| Sunday | 517 | 111 | 11.1% |
The typical pin does about the same whichever day it goes out. The share of clicks swings because a few big pins land on some days, not because the day helped. Post a few pins every day and stop worrying about which one. How often to post on Pinterest has the pace.
How we did this
- Source: pins and daily analytics pulled through Pinterest's official API for 46 accounts connected to Made to Spark, used only as totals. No account or pin is named.
- Pins: each account's top pins by impressions, about 3,700 in all, including pins made with other tools or by hand.
- Period: daily impressions, saves and outbound clicks from February 1 to October 22, 2026, summed per pin.
- Medians, not averages: a handful of huge pins would swamp an average, so every "typical" number is a median.
- Click rate: outbound clicks divided by impressions.
- Posts: a pin's link with tracking removed, grouped within one account.
- Limits: top pins favor winners, accounts skew toward blogs and shops that use a pin tool, and none of this proves cause.
